Simon Dickson, who spoke last year on how the UK government is using WordPress, returns this year with more tales of how our favourite online publishing tool is changing government communication. Simon is a web veteran of nearly a decade and a half, with a career that includes being the first Whitehall webbie and, latterly, successfully pushing for 10 Downing Street to adopt WordPress as the publishing platform for their new website. We’re really pleased to announce that Mike Little is speaking at WordCamp UK 2009. Mike is officially a WordPress old-timer, having co-founded the WordPress project in 2003 with Matt Mullenweg who is also attending; so we’re hosting a co-founders reunion at WordCamp UK!

After several years working with major eCommerce computing systems, Mike has now returned full-time to the warmth of WordPress and has started his own independent business focussed entirely on providing solutions based on WordPress and related projects. Mike tells us that recent projects have included various high profile e-government sites (including the recently launched Law Commission consultation site and he plans to include this experience in his talks. We’re sure Mike will also be happy to wax lyrical about the good old day of WordPress if you only ask!

Thanks for agreeing to speak, Mike!

We’re pleased to be able to announce our first speaker at WordCamp 2009, Peter Westwood. Peter has been using and developing with WordPress since February 2004, and as one of only five WordPress Lead Developers in the world (the Lead Devs are responsible for ensuring that the great quality of the core WordPress software just keeps on getting better) we’re very lucky to have him speaking. Peter tells us he’ll probably speak on the Future of WordPress, and that he wants to get involved in a WordPress clinic where you can get advice on WordPress related problems both large and small.

Thanks for agreeing to speak Peter, we’re looking forward to your session!
