Simon Dickson, who spoke last year on how the UK government is using WordPress, returns this year with more tales of how our favourite online publishing tool is changing government communication. Simon is a web veteran of nearly a decade and a half, with a career that includes being the first Whitehall webbie and, latterly, successfully pushing for 10 Downing Street to adopt WordPress as the publishing platform for their new website. Described as “subversive but extremely helpful” by at least one government minister, Simon continues to ruffle feathers as he campaigns for the wider use of WordPress and other low cost / open source solutions in the public sector.

Simon’s session at last year’s inaugural WordCamp was one of the best received of the weekend, however there is no evidence to suggest a direct link to Puffbox’s sponsorship of the event. We’re glad to have him on board for 2009, both as a speaker and a sponsor. Thanks for your support Simon!
